The importance of protecting a rainforest.
The importance of protecting a rainforest.
A rainforest is a very important ecosystem which contains rare plants, rare birds and rare animals. Rainforests can get a lot of rain. They protect animals by giving food and habitats for them. The trees can grow very well in a rain forest, due to the fertile soil, water and warmth. Rainforests have different kinds of trees and flowers such as Periwinkle, Keena, Hal and etc. One of the biggest rainforest in the world is the Amazon Rainforest. It is very beautiful and has majestic animals and plants. In Sri Lanka the only rainforest is the Sinharaja Rainforest. It is 21 kilometers long and 7 kilometers wide. There are many birds such as Blue Magpie, Red Faced Malkoha and Ash Headed Laughing Thrush. There are many animals such as Sloth bear, jungle cat and etc.
Today many people go to rainforests and cutdown trees and kill animals. Also they disturb the animals by noises of bulldozers, do slash and burning cultivation, pollute the land and water. Can this possibly go on? Think of all the animals that have no habitats or shelter and the animals who are being killed.
We can protect rainforests by planting trees in a huge scale, by not polluting anywhere, by leaving all the animals peacefully and by never disturbing them. Also we can stop slash and burning cultivation and do many sorts of things to protect the rainforests. So let's work together and start protecting the rainforest to keep the balance of nature.
